The 2025–2026 school year is officially underway at M. B. Lamar Middle School, where students returned to campus on Monday for a fresh start filled with excitement, new faces, and renewed energy.

Principal Ms. Valdez and the dedicated Lamar staff welcomed students with open arms as they arrived bright and early on August 11. Colorful signs, upbeat music, and warm greetings from teachers helped set the tone for a positive and smooth first day back.

“It’s always a special moment to see our students return after summer break,” said Principal Valdez. “This week has been about building community, setting expectations, and reminding our students that they belong here.”

Throughout the first few days, students have been getting to know their teachers, adjusting to their schedules, and reconnecting with friends. Sixth graders, many experiencing middle school for the first time, were supported through orientation activities and peer mentoring to ease the transition.

“I was a little nervous at first, but now I feel really comfortable,” said seventh-grader Maya L. “Everyone’s been super helpful, and I already like all my classes.”

As the first week continues, students and staff are looking ahead to a year filled with learning, creativity, and connection — all part of what makes Lamar Middle School such a vibrant part of the community.
